USNG and IncidentView™ in Brevard County

On March 15, 2010, a 40-acre brush fire broke out in Brevard County at US National Grid (USNG) location 17R NM 12 78. The images seen here are screenshots of the fire’s general location as seen in IncidentView. IncidentView is a digital mapping software application used to show response locations and tactical information. A demo copy of IncidentView has been provided to Brevard County, featuring local data (eg. all 14,000 hydrants and their locations), maps, aerial photos and the addition of the National Grid. Information on the fire was provided by Al Studt, a USNG Advocate & Instructor.

At far left the larger scale map shows the general location of the fire, the nearest fire department and I-95 and Highway 1. The second map from the left is zoomed-in for more detail, showing unpaved roads and structures near the fire. The National Grid is displayed in both views. Highway 1 from Aurantia to Golden Shores Blvd was closed while crews worked to contain the fire. Additional screenshots from the Brevard County IncidentView map are displayed in the other images.
